Train the Perception - Sharpen the Senses. Authentic Learning on the Scene
Summary
Excursions and explorative forms of instruction are those events that have the longest lasting effects on pupils. The present Austrian curricula of all school types suggest an increased use of learning on the scene. However, an inadequate didactic competence of the teachers, organizational hurdles and economic restraints lead to a conservative instruction in a "closed institution" named school. It remains unanswered how these various pedagogic and didactic aims of an "open school" can be reached in the classrooms. Proximity to the pupils lifes, training of the perception and the sharpening of the senses require an opening of the schools.
