Medical Teaching - A Distressed Area in Austria!
Abstract
The main problems and deficits of the present system in Austria are to be found in the lack
of motivation and missing course evaluation, the basis of quality assurance. The project of
an integrated course in neurology using problem based learning, bedside teaching and
permanent evaluation shows the chance for qualified education also in the present system.
There is not necessarily a need to wait for a change enforced by external pressure, although
government officials are not fulfilling their tasks for decades and should be forced to act.
