An Access to Qualified Teaching - a Course for Natural Scientists

For three years the authors are jointly running courses for young scientists focussing on the development of didactic and social teaching abilities. Normally the participants are teaching assistants of different study programmes, involved in practical exercises and tutorials. The specialty of the courses is the combination of didactic research findings and experiences referring to the participants' own subject matters with psychological results and experiences as well as experiences with different forms of tutor training. This combination allows for a close orientation at the teaching needs of the participants in the field of science, and offers the opportunity to improve their social and communicative skills in teaching contexts. Crucial for the success of the courses is the use of video feedback and continuous supervision. In this way the ideal transfer from the "laboratory situation" of the course to the teaching practice of the participants can be guaranteed.
