Lecture-evaluation as bilateral system. An experience with an optional course
Summary
The search for a system for the evaluation of single lectures is quite
difficult. The IDEA - system sticks out in this search by its bilateral-ness,
where the possibility exists, to emphasise objectives for the lecture.
After adaptation of this system to Austria nconditions, it was employed for the
first time in a voluntary lecture (WS 1997/98). The questionnaires are explained
in detail.
The low reverse-quota of approximately 10% can be regarded as most essential
deficiency of this test run. The causes for this low rate can surely be found in
the voluntary character of thelecture and in the fact, that the reply was
planned outside the lecture. However, the existing feedbacks show an intensive
engagement with the matter and allow getting an elaborate image of the
acceptance and the success of the lecture.
A bilateral evaluation-system as well as the one introduced here offers an
essentially better assessment of the feedbacks, since these can be judged by the
objectives of the lecture-leader. The inclusion of this form of evaluation into
the lecture is desirable certainly.
