Summary
This paper reports on the 12th International Seminar on Staff and Educational Development (ISSED) on "Urgent Problems in Higher Education and Approaches to Solutions", held from the 19th to the 22nd of June, 1993 in Berlin. The 39 participants from more than 14 countries discussed the challenges staff development faces nowadays and the contribution of staff development to some of the urgent problems in higher education.
