Online Learning between Claim and Reality:
Computer-mediated Communication (CMC)
The following article gives a detailed survey about
the present research results in the area of distance learning and
online-learning. Based on definitions for virtual universities and
online-learning and on international research results the author describes
the advantages and disadvantages of traditional distance education
compared to online-learning.Success factors of online-learning as
participation, communication and interaction or group work are discussed
by present research results. At the end the author gives a detailed
overview about open questions in research and more or less suitable
course content for online-learning and their future potential for
distance learning courses.
