Sociology as Excursion into Society: Experiences with and Reflections on Teaching Basics of Sociological Methods
Summary
Teaching basics of sociological methods asks for the decision on giving a broad overview or focussing on the training of only a few selected methodical proceedings. Related to this rises the question whether the competence of applying or the wide theortical knowledge is more important for students. "Sociology as excursion into society" is the titel of a course design, which seeks to integrate these contradictions. Along five categories of learning and the new concept is discussed: the personnel resources (who learns?), the implicit (about what is learned?) and the explicit (what is learned?) focus, the place (where is learned?) und the form (how is learned?) of learning.
