Staff Development at the Vaal Triangle Technikon in Vanderbjilpark, South Africa
Summary
The staff development unit at the Vaal Triangle Technikon evolved throughout the last nine years and comprises five components: staff development, teaching development, graphics, media and short courses. In the face of the political changes in South Africa the staff development unit can play a role in the adaption of the technikon to these changes. Efforts to meet this challenge are the establishment of a center for individual learning to bridge differences in entry qualifications, promotion of a multicultural teaching strategy and incentives to acquire external funding.
