By founding the Interdisciplinary Center for Social Competencies
(icsc) in 1999, the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences
at Johannes Kepler University Linz staged an initiative for an intensification
of teaching and research of social competence on a higher education
level. The problems were divided into four fields of research:teaching,
didactics in higher education, research and development, and further
education. Apart from the discussion of theoretical questions like
the relevance of social competence in working life and its learnability, crucial
experiences in the development of the icsc are also an issue.
