On Reflexive Aesthetics. Echoes of Space-Station 001
Summary
SPACE-STATION 001 was a reflexive blueprint of aesthetical experience of life. Archi tecture, art, cultural research and everyday life should be integrated into a 220 m2 area. The cultural space we designed by ourselves should be open for women to produce cultural meaning which they defined by themselves. Differences in experience should generate ever new offers for an aesthetical construction of sense. Our events were meant to reflect on the interpretative conditions of art and life. We performed our private sphere for the public temporarily. We produced socio-cultural art with Turkish women. Eventually our experiment used up too many resources. We had to stop it.
