Summary
Juha Pohjonen describes the need of research and experimential data on the development of the new learning environments, the changes in the roles of the teacher and pupil, supporting studies, construction of learning materials, financing and planning systems, technical approaches and the use of electronic media, organizational networking and internationalization. To make sure that the possibilities offered by the new learning environments are not wasted and technology is not used in a conflicting way in relation to educational views, a tool, such as educational technology, is needed for research and development in this field.
