Summary
The essay introduces the training modules
EchoExplorer and Cardio-Sim that
provide an enabling system for echocardiography.
The environment consists of
practical sequential training units that
build up a course. There are various
forms of interactivity. A common feature
of all modules is the combined use
of digitized 2D or 3D ultrasound images
with related views of a Virtual Reality
model showing a beating heart. The exploratory
scenarios allow forms of constructive
learning that are to a large extent
selfcontrolled.
