Summary
The University of the Saarland is located in the heart of Europe in the Saar-Lorraine-Luxembourg-Treves-Western Palatinate (Saar-Lor-Lux) region with more than seven million inhabitants. The Saar-Lor-Lux region is made up of several nationalities and languages, different economic, social and cultural developments. Besides of the political problems which derived from the different military clashs during this century the Saar-Lor-Lux-region is characterized by a long common history, similar economic, social and cultural developments in the past. Today there is a growing proportion of people who are working across the borders, a lot of people are bilingual and many companies have branches in their neighbourcountries within the region.
