Reflexions upon Science

Reflexive Science: Claims and Contradictions
Summary
In connection with economic measures as well as third-party financing the claim
arises that science shall be useful and relevant to society. This demand for
university research and education is also made within science itself. Social
relevance and the demand for societal distance, for reflecting science go hand
in hand. That is not necessarily a discrepancy. The integration of both tasks
can be achieved in an extended view of science. This is linked to an extended
field of activities by scientists. They offer knowledge, organise, guide and
accompany processes of the implementation of knowledge as well as its creation.
