Summary
The author presents his personal experiences from working in a European project in Open and Distance Learning (ODL), focusing on the needs of continuing education in the industrial segment of Information Technology. After returning to his university as an associate professor of physics, he now also takes part in activities of the EADTU, in developing an international network of educational activities between universities. On this occasion, he suggests what the role of such networks could be in the future of academic level ODL in Europe, and looks at their impact on traditional educational schemes.
